BBC to broadcast ‘This Is Our Story: Inside Hearts’

BBC One Scotland is to broadcast our series This Is Our Story: Inside Hearts. Over three programmes Two Rivers Media goes behind the scenes to reveal what it takes to run one of Scotland’s biggest football clubs – Edinburgh’s ‘Heart of Midlothian’.   The series begins just as 2019/2020 season is under way and the team is languishing near the bottom of the League.

This Is Our Story: Inside Hearts follows the key games and the highs and lows experienced by the players, the fans and the backroom staff who keep this historic football club running.  The cameras were there to witness decisions being made at every level – from high-level transfers to the calls made in the moment on the side-lines.

With full access to every level of the club, the series also follows Hearts owner, Ann Budge and her media team as they deal with all the press speculation about a new manager, attempt to navigate the devastating impact of Covid-19 and prepare for the landmark moment at the end of the season when Hearts becomes the largest fan-owned team in the UK.  But no matter what else is achieved, it’s the club’s performance, and whether they have achieved a top four place in the league, that will determine the state of fan morale and the club’s finances.

In the first episode, the 2019/2020 season is under way and Hearts aren’t doing well. The fans are not happy.  Manager, Craig Levein has just been sacked and the club is in limbo.  Sitting at the bottom of the table and on a losing streak - the pressure is on for Chairman Ann Budge to find a new manager quickly, but she’s determined to take her time and get the right person.

This Is Our Story: Inside Hearts begins tonight on BBC Scotland.
