Alan has had a successful career as a dynamic and creative leader in award-winning television production and business management. He has excellent links within the UK, international media industry and with business and policy makers across Scotland and the UK.
He grew the Wark Clements business from start up to a £10m turnover and then negotiated the merger with Ideal World to create IWC Media, Scotland’s largest independent producer. From 2008 to 2018, Alan was Director of Content at STV Productions and was instrumental in its growth and diversification into new genres and broadcasters, including creating the franchise Antiques Road Trip and Catchphrase.
Alan then founded Two Rivers Media in January 2019 received backing from investment house Noble Grossart, the Channel 4 Indie Growth Fund and Kew Media as well as significant support from public bodies, including Screen Scotland and the BFI, for premium documentaries. The vision was to create a multi-genre company of scale based in Scotland to serve the UK and international market and take advantage in particular of the BBC and Channel 4’s need for trusted out of London suppliers.
In the last six years he has executive produced most of Two Rivers output, including Killing Escobar, Cassius X: Becoming Ali, Keeping It Up: The Story Of Viagra, Dogs of War and the forthcoming co-production with Soho Studios, Special Forces: Most Daring Missions narrated by Tom Hardy.
