CASSIUS X: Becoming Ali follows the early years of Cassius Clay, from bright-eyed rookie to world heavyweight champion and from working class intellectual to one of America’s most influential civil rights campaigners. The film reveals how the teachings of Elijah Muhammad, reinforced by a friendship with revolutionary preacher, Malcolm X, set Clay on the journey to become "Cassius X", before his induction to the Nation of Islam and ascension to the name of the great Muhammad Ali. CASSIUS X: Becoming Ali is the extraordinary story of how one young boxer from Louisville, Kentucky became a cultural icon for the ages, forever to be known thereafter as “The Greatest”.

Director Muta’Ali said:

"I'm delighted that Cassius X will premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival. I can't wait to be there to celebrate the film and the legacy of Muhammad Ali.”

Writer Stuart Cosgrove said:

"It's two for the price of one for me. I'm delighted that my book has been so brilliantly adapted for the screen and that it will be launched at the Glasgow Film Festival in my home city. I can’t wait to let the good people of Glasgow see the film ahead of its UK release later in the year.”

Executive Producer, Alan Clements of Two Rivers Media said:

“Everyone at Two Rivers is delighted that Cassius X is premiering at the Glasgow Film Festival and I’m personally very proud to bring Muta Ali’s compelling film to the big screen in the city in which the book was written and the film developed”.

Cassius X: Becoming Ali is directed by Muta’Ali, produced by Glasgow based production company Two Rivers Media in association with Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios and has been acquired for UK distribution by Cosmic Cat. The film will be released in UK cinemas later in the year.
